Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that performs diverse and important functions in the body: it contributes to the maintenance of healthy bones and teeth, helps maintain a normal calcium level in the blood, supports proper muscle and immune system function, aids in the proper absorption/utilization of calcium and phosphorus, and is involved in the process of cell division.

Insufficient vitamin D supply can occur with an unbalanced diet, in countries with moderate sunlight, and during cold, sun-poor winters.
