Herbal milk thistle, ground, defatted 200 g
Milk thistle – properties of the plant
Milk thistle [lat. Silybum marianum] is an annual cultivated plant from the Asteraceae family, which is also relatively easy to find in the wild. Due to its visual similarity, it is often confused with the popular thistle. It is characterized by sharp, spiny leaves and purple flowers. It differs from the thistle, among other things, by its height – it can reach about 2 meters. It originates from the Mediterranean region and is currently common in Southern Europe, Egypt, Israel, and Turkey. A herbal raw material valued in phytotherapy is milk thistle seeds (grains).
Milk thistle – a source of nutrients
Milk thistle seeds, spotted lichen, contain:
- Silymarin, which has strong detoxifying properties, choleretic, cholagogic, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant
- Phytosterols that help lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of atherosclerosis and heart attack
- Polyphenol compounds that seal blood vessels, protect the heart muscle, and also lower pressure
- Linoleic acid with many valuable properties for the body
- Vitamin E is rightly considered one of the strongest antioxidants
- Flavonoids with anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-atherosclerotic, and anti-diabetic properties
- Fiber, which positively affects intestinal motility
Tip
Ground milk thistle, defatted, is characterized by being milled from whole grains. This means that with proper storage, it retains almost all the properties of the milk thistle grain while being much easier to use. To not lose its properties, store it in tightly sealed packaging. For this reason, each of our packages has a zipper for easy closing and opening. Your well-being is important to us!
