Wild Rose - Characteristics of the Plant

The wild rose [Latin: Rosa canina] is a shrub species from the rose family, found throughout Europe, North Africa, and Asia. In Poland, it is a common species occurring both in the wild and in cultivation. The rosehip is a very valuable plant resource and is used not only in the food and cosmetics industry but also as an ornamental plant. One of the reasons for its popularity is that it is a true vitamin bomb. The most valuable and sought-after plant raw material of the rosehip is its fruit.

Rosehip fruits contain:

• Vitamin C - the wild rose is the richest naturally occurring source of this vitamin important for our body
• Carotenoids such as lycopene and lutein, which are present in large amounts in rosehips, have antioxidant properties and thus protect the body from many serious chronic diseases
• Polyphenolic compounds, including tannins, anthocyanins, and flavonoids, which have antioxidant effects as strong as carotenoids
• B vitamins, primarily responsible for the smooth functioning of the nervous system - relieve nervous tension, improve mood and mental performance Vitamins A, E, and K
• Sugars, pectin, organic acids, and folic acid
• Mineral salts such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, silicon, and iron.

Wild Rose - when is it worth using?

• Vitamin deficiency and increased vitamin demand due to increased physical and mental effort, cancer, infectious diseases, pregnancy, digestive and absorption disorders, and more.
• Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis - rosehip has strong pain-relieving and cartilage-regenerating properties in high doses
• Preventive against cancer. Due to its content of polyphenolic compounds, rosehip has a deactivating effect on reactive oxygen species and can therefore contribute to cancer prevention.

Recommended use

Pour a teaspoon of rosehip shells with a glass of boiling water and let steep for 10 to 15 minutes in a covered bowl.

Rosehip tincture

Required ingredients:

• 500 grams of rosehips
• 1 liter of 40% vodka
• 150 grams of honey

Crush the washed rosehips and pour over with the prepared liter of vodka. Then add 150 g of good quality honey, stir, and let steep in a warm place for about 2 weeks. After this time, decant, strain, and bottle.

Ingredients: 100% dried, destemmed rosehip shells.
