Aromatic fenugreek – discover its culinary and health potential
Fenugreek is a herb also known as "Greek hay" or "god's grass." In powder form, it is used as a culinary spice, particularly popular in India, Sri Lanka, and the Middle East. Fenugreek is a component of the popular curry spice mix. Its taste is bitter, but it blends well with the flavors and aromas of other spices, especially paprika, coriander, and cumin. Fenugreek is added to soups, meats, sauces, hummus, fish, pasta, and even salads.
Use in medicine and cosmetics
Fenugreek has been cultivated for centuries. To this day, it is used in naturopathy, among other things, for sugar imbalances due to its ability to lower blood sugar levels. The galactomannan contained in fenugreek slows the absorption of glucose from food. In Iran, among other places, fenugreek is used to support the treatment of eye diseases. However, these are not all of fenugreek's properties. Furthermore, it is now used not only in medicine but also in cosmetics.
Fenugreek - healing properties
The invaluable healing properties of fenugreek not only lower blood sugar levels but can also help lower cholesterol, for example. It also stimulates hematopoietic activity in the bone marrow and contributes to an increase in red blood cell count. It also has antifungal and antibacterial properties. Fenugreek extract can help fight bacteria such as:
- Staphylococcus aureus,
- a piece of blue oil,
- a piece of blue oil,
- Salmonella
- vaginal trichomoniasis,
- pneumonia bacillus
Fenugreek also improves digestion and relieves discomforts such as bloating and gastritis. It is also used for stomach ulcers. Fenugreek is also said to soothe sore throats, build muscle mass, lower bad cholesterol, stimulate lactation after childbirth, and improve memory.
Fenugreek for hair? Great idea
Because fenugreek contains many valuable B vitamins (B6, B12) and minerals such as zinc and potassium, it has a very positive effect on strengthening hair. Rubbing a fenugreek infusion into the hair stimulates hair growth and soothes scalp irritations.
And fenugreek for wrinkles and complexion? - it will work!
Fenugreek is also used to care for acne-prone skin. Simply apply two teaspoons of fenugreek mixed with boiling water as a mask to cleanse, improve and even out the natural skin tone, and smooth wrinkles.
Natural and readily available products like fenugreek are becoming increasingly popular. Supplements containing this product are inexpensive and, when used regularly, can improve our health and well-being.
Supports weight loss
Fenugreek contains soluble fiber, which aids weight loss. This causes large amounts of water to accumulate in the intestines, which then swells in the stomach, delaying the absorption of carbohydrates and thus providing a feeling of fullness. Soluble fiber also supports the body in the elimination of waste products and heavy metals and improves metabolism.
