Although the cleansing herb has been known for thousands of years, it seems as though it only became truly popular relatively recently. There's actually something of a cleansing boom going on—suddenly everyone's drinking it! Our organic store also offers a wide selection of different cleansing products, which is why we're asking ourselves today: What does this rather inconspicuous plant owe its fame to?
Regularly drinking cistus infusion has extremely positive effects on several aspects of health – but the word "regular" is crucial here. As with most herbal teas, consistency is key: It's not worth expecting any benefits after drinking cistus tea just once. Only systematically drinking the tea (for at least a month) and brewing it exactly according to the package instructions will bring the desired results – but patience pays off, as purging has numerous positive effects.
Cleaning because... cleans? Yes!
Cistus has a reputation for cleansing the body of toxins—and for good reason. Cistus herb removes accumulated heavy metals from the body. Drinking the infusion is also recommended for smokers and city dwellers. The cleansing, detoxifying properties of the purification herb are among the first effects to be felt at the beginning of treatment!
A powerful antioxidant
Cistus contains many polyphenols, which are powerful natural antioxidants—that is, substances that help eliminate free radicals responsible for cell destruction and aging. This plant therefore has a rejuvenating (or actually, anti-aging!) effect, but also reduces and eliminates inflammation.
How to deal with acne
As anyone with acne knows, the key to getting rid of this annoying condition lies not in what we put on our skin, but in what we eat and drink. One way to get rid of acne is to drink cistus, which, acting from within, helps clear the skin of pimples and cysts. It also regulates sebum secretion, which has a positive effect not only on the condition of the skin but also on the condition of the hair.
Weapon in the fight against allergies
Purge's anti-inflammatory properties make it an effective remedy for relieving allergy symptoms. To gain some relief, allergy sufferers can drink an infusion of this plant during the pollen season of the plants they are allergic to.
Shield against microbes
The antibacterial properties of purge can be used in many ways. Some people use the infusion of this plant as a mouthwash (in this capacity, it can effectively replace ready-made mouthwashes often contaminated with toxic triclosan solutions), others use it to help fight colds and flu (in our organic store, you can even buy a vitamin C-enriched purge!), and still others use it to wash or gargle infected or inflamed skin.
How are rinses dosed?
Like most herbs, dried rockrose is poured over with hot, but not boiling, water. It should steep for about 10 minutes. The infusion can be consumed immediately or in small sips over a longer period of time. Regularity is very important, as we noted at the beginning: The cleansing treatment should last at least a month.
