Henna has been known for its diverse cosmetic and medicinal uses for thousands of years – first gaining popularity in its native Asia, particularly in India, where it is used for ritual tattoos, among other things, and then in Europe and around the world.
Henna hair coloring—both hairstyles and eyebrows—is a practice that's gradually gaining popularity with the spread of awareness about various aspects of harmful substances found in conventional synthetic dyes and colorants. Henna-based dyes can achieve a beautiful, long-lasting, and natural color—why do we need chemicals?
Why should you dye your hair with henna ?
While henna doesn't offer the wide range of coloring options we're used to with conventional hair dyes, it ensures that the coloring has not only aesthetic but also caring benefits. Henna is also perfect for people who want to color gray hair and for allergy sufferers. When applied to the style, henna bonds with the keratin in the hair, forming a permanent color layer that protects and strengthens the style instead of weakening it like conventional dyes.
Henna as a conditioner
Regular use of henna strengthens and regenerates hair, as it helps retain moisture, nourishes it, and maintains a proper, healthy response (which, in turn, is very important for the condition of the scalp). The preparation acts as a protective barrier for each individual hair—just like a conditioner! In the same way, it gives strands a beautiful shine and makes them easier to comb.
White hair? No problem!
Gray hair is always a challenge for colorants, but not for henna. Not only does it effectively cover all gray hairs, but its conditioning properties also make them look and feel much better, and even—thanks to the way henna covers individual hairs—they appear thicker.
Say goodbye to dandruff – and do it in style!
Henna's antibacterial and antifungal properties make it a great solution for those struggling with dandruff. Because henna helps moisturize both the hair and scalp, it prevents scalp dryness, which is one of the main causes of dandruff.
How do you dye your hair with henna?
The great thing about henna is that it basically doesn't stain anything that isn't skin or hair, making it easy and stress-free to apply (especially during the cleanup phase!). The whole process is very simple. First, mash the henna lump with water in a saucepan set on gas—so it takes on the consistency of melted chocolate. Then, put on gloves and apply a thick layer of the mixture all over your (clean and dry) hair, from roots to ends, avoiding your ears, neck, and face (it's worth protecting them with an oil or greasy cream).
The warmer the mixture, the better the effect, but don't apply it while it's hot, as burns are unpleasant! Depending on how intense you want the color to be, you should leave the henna on your hair for one to two hours. After this time, you can wash your hair—done! You may have to wait a while for the effect: Especially with darker shades, like Khadi Black Henna , which you can buy in our shop, it takes up to two days for the final color to develop.
