Cysteine is considered a conditionally essential amino acid and belongs to the group of sulfur-containing amino acids.
Cysteine is found in keratin, the main protein component of nails, skin, and hair. Cysteine is involved in the production of collagen and improves skin elasticity and structure. It is found in many other proteins in the body, including several digestive enzymes.
Among other things, cysteine is actively involved in the processes of normalizing liver function. It has antioxidant properties that the body uses to protect cell membranes and blood vessels.
