The sunflower is one of the most beautiful cultivated and ornamental plants, with uses as interesting as its visual qualities. In Polish fields, it blooms in high summer and adorns the beds until late autumn. Sunflower seeds are particularly crunchy and nutritious
Shelled sunflower seeds are a source of zinc, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, calcium, and iron, to name a few. They should be consumed especially by lovers of healthy snacks, vegetarians, and gourmets - due to their high protein content, which is a source of energy and a muscle-building product. Sunflower seeds contain a lot of fiber, which helps regulate the digestive system. The seeds are among the products with the highest content of phytosterols, chemicals that can lower blood cholesterol levels. Folic acid, vitamin B9, is also found in these seeds. A deficiency of folic acid can, for example, lead to anemia.
Shelled sunflower seeds can be eaten as is or added to salads (they taste especially good with chicken or tuna salad), muesli, and breakfast cereals. Don't forget them when baking homemade bread. Sunflower seeds can also be roasted in a dry frying pan.
