Peanuts & Co.: An overview of the most popular peanut butters

Erdnüsse & Co.: Die beliebtesten Erdnussbutter im Überblick

We all know that we should eat more fruits and vegetables to stay healthy and fit. In fact, we should not only eat more fruits and vegetables, but also more plants in general: fruits, vegetables, legumes, seeds, and nuts!

Of the above, the latter is especially worth noting – nuts are a true treasure trove of valuable vitamins and trace elements, and they're delicious too! One of the easiest—and, dare I say, tastiest—ways to incorporate them into your daily diet is peanut butter. "Butter," not "butter," because there's much more to it than just the familiar peanut butter!

Almond butter

This type of peanut butter is not only considered the most delicious (it tastes like sugar-free marzipan), but is also packed with healthy monounsaturated fats. It also contains a solid dose of calcium and magnesium. It's fantastic on its own, on sandwiches, for topping healthy cakes, or as a simple dip for fruits and vegetables.

Coconut butter

Note: This is not the same as coconut oil! Coconut butter is made by blending the flesh of the coconut without pressing out the fat. It has a pleasantly smooth, creamy texture, making it perfect as an addition to desserts! Coconut is the source of the only healthy saturated fat, thanks to which it has a positive effect on cholesterol levels—both "good" and "bad."

Cashew butter

Another butter with an extremely smooth texture, highly appreciated by plant-based butter connoisseurs. It's slightly sweet and mild, so it pairs well with other flavors and makes cashew butter a great base for all kinds of vegan sauces.

Walnut butter

This butter is possibly the tastiest source of omega-3 fatty acids in your daily diet! Unfortunately, it's the omega-3 fatty acids that cause this type of butter to spoil relatively quickly, so it must be refrigerated and eaten as soon as possible. For this reason, it's worth making it yourself: In a heavy-duty blender, blend the nuts, gently roasted in a pan, until smooth.

Brazil nut butter

Brazil nuts are one of the world's richest sources of selenium, a mineral responsible, among other things, for the proper functioning of the immune system. Like the nuts from which they are made, they are noticeably fatty and oily—they fully deserve the name "butter"! It's also worth making Brazil nut butter at home and then using it for unique desserts and pastries, or simply adding a spoonful to oatmeal or spreading it on a sandwich.

Peanut butter (peanut)

Why are we discussing the most popular type of peanut butter last? Because the ever-popular peanut butter is actually... not made of nuts! And let's not even talk about the fact that there are brands on the market that contain peanuts in less than half the ingredients (horrible, right?

Fortunately, in our shop you'll only find products with a flawless, 100% nutty composition), but also that peanuts are actually a type of bean. Just look at their shells—typical bean! However, you can forgive this deception with "peanut" butter, because it's not only delicious and extremely versatile (you don't even have to stretch your imagination to find a use for it from breakfast to dinner!), but also rich in nutrients. Its high protein content, in particular, makes it ideal for active people.
