Recipes for organic scrubs that you can make at home
CONTENTS
When the winter aura sets in outside, it quickly gets dark, and we spend long winter evenings mostly at home. Every now and then, we can treat ourselves to a home spa. Who doesn't dream of smooth, healthy, and firm skin? To ensure optimal condition, exfoliation—the removal of dead skin cells—can be extremely helpful. The main benefits of regular exfoliation are:
- Improvement of skin elasticity,
- color alignment,
- Smoothing the skin, bumps and wrinkles,
- Removal of dead skin and impurities,
- better absorption of creams and lotions,
- improves blood circulation.
To perform a healthy and effective exfoliation, you don't need to spend a fortune on drugstore products, which are often packed with chemical additives and preservatives, or schedule an appointment for an expensive treatment with a cosmetician. You can easily prepare the scrub at home using a few simple ingredients that are often readily available in your kitchen. Here are some interesting, effective, and very simple suggestions.
Coffee scrub
Which products are needed for preparation:
- Coffee grounds about half a cup
- a teaspoon of cinnamon
- Tablespoon of your favorite body oil (can also be olive oil)
Combine the ingredients and apply the resulting mixture to damp skin with a gentle massage. Rinse thoroughly afterward. Coffee scrub is a great ally in the fight against cellulite.
sugar scrub
The required ingredients are:
- at least 6 tablespoons of sugar
- Argan, almond or olive oil
Like a coffee scrub, mix the ingredients and apply to your body using gentle, circular motions, massage in, and then rinse thoroughly. This scrub can be used on both the body and face. It softens, cleanses, and oxygenates the skin. It can also serve as a base for fruit scrubs (with the addition of mixed fruits, such as kiwi, banana, or strawberries).
Honey-almond scrub
This scrub is perfect for gently cleansing your facial skin. To prepare it, mix:
- chopped almonds (about a teaspoon),
- a teaspoon of honey
- teaspoon of hydrosol
Massage the scrub into your face for a few minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water. It helps even out skin tone.
Adzuki peeling
To do this, grind a handful of adzuki beans in a coffee grinder. Mix one tablespoon of the ground powder with a little water or hydrosol. Gently massage the scrub onto your face. After the massage, you can leave the scrub on your skin for about 10 minutes, treating it like a nourishing mask. Adzuki beans contain a lot of zinc, which is why scrubbing with them is recommended for people with blemish-prone skin. It helps smooth and brighten it.
Salt scrub for the body
- coarse sea salt or pink Himalayan salt about 0.5 cup
- Juice of half a lemon
- 2 tbsp olive oil or argan oil
After thoroughly mixing the ingredients, apply the finished scrub to cleansed, moistened skin and begin massaging. Rinse everything off. This scrub has emollient properties and is especially recommended for the skin of the feet, knees, and elbows.
Homemade body scrubs are based on natural ingredients, are simple to prepare, and contain no artificial additives, flavors, or preservatives. They fit perfectly with the zero-waste trend. If we limit or completely avoid buying scrubs from drugstores, less plastic waste will end up in our shopping baskets and more money will stay in our wallets. Among all these benefits is the fact that they are, above all, effective and produce visible results.
