DESCRIPTION

Sodium hydroxide granules 1kg BIOMUS

- participates in the production of soap, glass, rubber
-as a component of drain cleaning products
-used as an acidity regulator

Sodium hydroxide is found under the names: caustic soda, sodium hydroxide solution, sodium hydroxide solution, sodium hydroxide solution
Solid caustic soda is a white crystalline substance. It is hygroscopic and easily combines with carbon dioxide in the air (forming a sodium carbonate coating). Store it in tightly closed containers. It dissolves very well in water, releases considerable amounts of heat, and forms caustic soda, an odorless, colorless, non-flammable liquid that reacts with acids, non-metal oxides, and amphoteric hydroxides to form sodium salts. It is slippery to the touch and causes burns. It is corrosive to metals, especially in the presence of moisture. It reacts readily with metals with amphoteric properties, releasing hydrogen (e.g., with aluminum and zirconium, forming clay and zirconates, respectively). It forms salts with weak organic acids (e.g., phenols and nitromethane). Under the influence of NaOH, non-metals disproportionate (e.g., white phosphorus boiled with NaOH solution gives phosphate and phosphate, and sulfur dissolves in NaOH solution to form sulfide and sulfite).

APPLICATION
Caustic soda is used as a component in preparations for cleaning sewer pipes. It is also involved in the production of soap, silica water glass, dyes, and rayon. It is also used in rubber production, industrial water treatment, and the paper industry.
