Natural plant fibers come in two forms, soluble and insoluble. The first of them, represented, for example, by pectin, which is found in apples and grapefruit, and oat fiber, comprehensively supports the digestive processes occurring in the intestines and regulates their work. Insoluble fiber helps eliminate metabolic waste in a non-invasive way. A rich source of valuable dietary fiber is the seed coat of psyllium.

When should you use fiber?

It's hard to believe that such a common plant can be so important in regulating the overall functioning of the human body. Psyllium contains many valuable substances, including dietary fiber, a mucous material that facilitates metabolism, intestinal peristalsis, and the bowel movement itself. By absorbing water, the seed coats are covered with mucus, which facilitates the movement of residual organic matter. Vegetable fibers should be used regularly and especially in the case of digestive problems. Older people, pregnant women and children can confidently reach for plant fibers in this form, because they are gentle and harmless, but at the same time very effective. It is worth making sure that you have the right amount of dietary fiber in your daily diet by eating fresh vegetables, fruit, oilseeds and wholemeal flour. Fiber is available on the market in the form of ground seed pods — excellent for adding to cocktails, smoothies, baked goods, and other dishes, as well as easy-to-swallow capsules — that contain a blend of soluble and insoluble fiber to increase the effectiveness of supplementation. Fiber can also be poured into a glass and doused with water. After a few minutes you can drink the prepared mixture. When using plant fibers, it is always important to remember proper hydration of the body.
