A healthy diet includes not only balanced meals that provide the right amount of minerals, but also drinks, which are often an accumulation of artificial substances and preservatives that are harmful to the body. It is therefore recommended to drink mainly: mineral water with, for example, fresh fruit, herbal teas with no added sugar or healthy vegetable and fruit juices. The latter can be made at home or purchased from health food stores to ensure they are natural. If you prepare them at home, you need to keep in mind that this is a time-consuming process, and the heat treatment of the juice can negatively affect its nutritional value.

types of juices

Fruit and vegetable juices can be classified according to many criteria. On the market there are unpasteurized juices that have a very short expiry date, usually one day, as well as pasteurized drinks that can be subjected to this process at a lower or higher temperature, which affects their expiry date.

Depending on their appearance, juices are divided into clear juices, for example apple juice, naturally cloudy ones such as orange juice and purees, which also include carrot juice. Another criterion is the type of semi-finished product from which the juice is made, because it can be prepared from fresh fruit and vegetables, but also from concentrated puree.

Properties of vegetable juices

It pays to look at the labels of drinks that go into the shopping cart to know if they contain artificial contaminants. They often contain chemical colorings, unnatural flavors and preservatives. This is not a problem for vegetable and fruit juices made from fresh products from producers of organic and healthy food.

Vegetable juices strengthen the entire body and are absorbed quickly and efficiently. In addition, they have a positive effect on the digestive process and reduce the risk of developing various diseases. Unlike fruit drinks, plant-based drinks do not increase insulin levels, but juices made from root crops such as carrots or beetroot are exceptions.

Depending on which fruits and vegetables the juices are made from, they have different health-promoting properties. Carrot juice is an excellent source of vitamin A and ascorbic acid, which boosts immunity and improves vision. In turn, the drink made from tomatoes is a source of lycopene, as well as potassium, and protects the skin from the harmful effects of sunlight. Popular for problems with the functioning of the digestive system is cabbage juice, which supports the function of the intestines and stomach and can also delay the aging process. A lesser-known drink is artichoke juice, which is rich in minerals like vitamins A, E, C, as well as iron, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium.

Vegetable juices to complement a healthy diet

By drinking vegetable juices, you can easily supplement the daily recommended amount of vegetables and fruit, as these are often more easily absorbed by the body due to the liquid form. To be sure that the drink is digestible, it is worth drinking it immediately after preparing it or opening the bottle. Too much juice can have a negative effect on the body, so you should differentiate your diet.

Vegetable juices can be a way to cleanse the body of toxins, thereby improving bowel and liver function. They provide a huge dose of vitamins and minerals necessary for the proper functioning of the entire human body. In addition, they can be used for prophylaxis and also to support the body in the fight against infections and diseases.
