If we feel a loss of energy after a full day at work and feel tired or stressed, a home SPA can help us. A relaxing bath in the bathroom at home can do wonders for our tired body and mind. There is an easy way to feel like we are in a real, professional SPA: throw sparkling bath bombs into the bathtub, which begin to dissolve when they come into contact with water, releasing nourishing and aromatic ingredients that soothe our senses. However, let's not use a store-bought bath bomb, but one that we prepare ourselves at home - without artificial additives, preservatives and microplastics.
DIY eco-friendly bubble ball
The basic ingredients for preparing a carbonated bath bomb are citric acid, sodium bicarbonate and optional additives in the form of your favorite essential oil, olive oil, flower petals or natural coloring. The recipe is trivially simple:
In a large bowl, place a glass sodium bicarbonate and half a glass of citric acid – both ingredients should be thoroughly mixed. Then we add a small amount of your favorite oil or olive oil, and if we want to get a specific scent, literally a few drops of the selected essential oil (can Lavender- , rose, lemons-, orange oil). Once all the ingredients are in the bowl, start kneading the mass with your hands. We should obtain a mass with the consistency of wet sand, with which one could bake cupcakes in a sandbox. If our mass is too dry, add a little water or hydrolat, but so that the soda does not foam. Once the mass is ready, it is enough to form balls by hand or use ready-made molds that are available in stores. The balls can be used immediately, the remaining ones should be stored in a dry, cool and dark place, in a closed container - glass or plastic, or in a mesh bag. In this way, the balls will last for up to half a year.
Additives for ecological foam balls
The recipe given above is the simplest and most basic way to prepare homemade ecological bath bombs. When kneading the mass we can add our favorite ingredients that will make the balls unique and unique, prepared specifically according to our individual needs. So what can we add to bath bombs:
- Epsom salt – has a relaxing effect, relaxing and anti-inflammatory, regenerates the epidermis,
- Petals of your favorite flowers – they can be in the form of dried flowers or herbs, e.g. rose, marigold, lavender,
- cosmetic clay - then the ball has more care properties,
- colored dyes – to produce sparkling balls, no food coloring is used, but soap colorings,
- Cinnamon, turmeric or gingerbread spice are perfect .
Sparkling balls in the children's version
A colorful, glittering bath bomb is a perfect alternative to bathing for children. The preparation alone is an adventure for the child, at the same time a creative sensory exercise that perfectly stimulates various senses, and at the same time a time spent together with the parents. However, when making a ball in a version for children, it is better to do without additional additives, especially if we fear an allergic reaction in the child. Then, instead of essential oils, we can simply add tender baby olives. It is also a great idea to put a small toy inside the ball, which will appear in the bath when the ball has already dissolved. Homemade bath bombs are also a great idea for a handmade gift.
