Gold of Siberia - discover the extraordinary healing properties of sea buckthorn
Known as the "Gold of Siberia," sea buckthorn, or common sea buckthorn, is a shrub unusual for its unique array of nutrients and health-promoting properties. Jams, preserves, juices, and tinctures are made from its fruits. It has a rather sour and tart flavor and contains a very high concentration of vitamin C, allowing it to be used as a lemon substitute in cooking. In addition, the entire plant—including its seeds, leaves, and bark—is used medicinally. It has a positive effect on our health.
Healing properties of sea buckthorn
Sea buckthorn berries are a particularly rich source of vitamin C. They contain more than, for example, a lemon. Sea buckthorn berries are also a rich source of, among other things, unsaturated fatty acids, magnesium, iron, potassium, copper, manganese, and sodium; vitamins A, D, E, K, and B vitamins; phospholipids; and flavonoids. These ingredients prevent premature skin aging and have a smoothing, regenerating, and softening effect. Therefore, sea buckthorn is widely used in the production of facial, body, and hair care cosmetics. Sea buckthorn-based creams, masks, conditioners, and balms are available. Sea buckthorn fruit extract (oil) contains valuable ingredients such as lutein, palmitoleic acid, carotene, and zeaxanthin. It has been shown to be helpful in wound healing and can help with:
- eczema
- Acne,
- skin inflammation,
- Regeneration of the epidermis,
- Treatment of skin damage resulting from burns (including sunburn), bedsores or mechanical injuries,
- Erosion or inflammation of the cervix,
- Inflammation,
- Rheumatism,
- bacterial infections,
- Diarrhea,
- Stomach ulcers.
Healthy infusion of sea buckthorn leaves
Sea buckthorn tea is a source of many valuable vitamins—A, C, E, B2, B3, B5, omega-3, omega-6, serotonin, quercetin, kaempferol, polyphenols, as well as trace elements such as magnesium, iron, manganese, boron, calcium, and potassium. The properties of this infusion have been known and valued for centuries in natural Chinese, Tibetan, and Indian medicine. Among other things, sea buckthorn tea facilitates sleep, has an antispasmodic effect, regulates hormonal balance, strengthens the liver, supports metabolism, regulates blood sugar, and lowers blood pressure. Sea buckthorn tea is especially recommended for conditions such as poisoning, sore throats, and joint pain. It also has a positive effect on atherosclerotic changes. Sea buckthorn tea can also be used externally—for example, as a scalp rub, it improves hair condition. You can also wash your face with it, which will improve the condition of your skin. Due to its antibacterial properties, sea buckthorn infusion is also excellent for washing wounds, newly formed scars and various types of skin lesions.
